Privacy

The short version

There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up to and nothing for us to hold. We do not sell data and we run no analytics of our own, on this site or inside the apps. The data that does get collected is collected by Google's advertising SDK inside StudyPomo, and it is named in full below.

What we collect ourselves

Nothing, unless you fill in the report form. That is a short answer, so here is what it rests on.

The report form. If you tell us what is broken about an app, we store exactly three things: the app you named, what you wrote about it, and the time it arrived. If you give us an address for a reply we store that too, and if you leave it blank there is nothing in the record tied to you at all. We do not store your IP address, your browser, your country, or any identifier that would let one report be connected to another. Nothing is set in your browser when you submit, and the form posts directly to us with no third party in between. Reports are kept so that the same complaint arriving twice is visible as a pattern, which is the whole reason for asking. If you left an address and want your report deleted, write to us and we will remove it.

This website. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no cookies of any kind, including on the report form. Nothing on any page loads from another company's server: no fonts, no scripts, no embeds, no tag manager. One entry is stored in your browser, ef-theme, which records whether you chose the light or the dark theme. It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser storage removes it. You can check all of this by opening your browser's network tab on any page here and watching what it does not request.

The apps. They work without an account and keep what you do on your own device. StudyPomo carries no crash reporting and no usage analytics. There is no Firebase, no Crashlytics and no Google Analytics in the shipped build, so your tasks, streaks and session history never leave the phone.

Our host. This site is served by Cloudflare, which like any host receives the IP address and browser details of every request in order to answer it. We do not receive per-visitor reporting from it. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers what it does with that.

Advertising

This site carries no advertising today. If that changes it will be Google AdSense, and this page will say so before the first ad appears rather than after.

StudyPomo carries Google AdMob, which is what pays for the app being free. The AdMob SDK collects and shares data with Google automatically, and Google publishes exactly what it takes. Four types, and no others:

• Approximate location, inferred from your IP address, not from GPS
• App interactions, meaning which screens and ads you saw
• Diagnostics, such as launch time, hang rate and energy use
• Device or other IDs, chiefly the advertising identifier your phone gives out

All four are shared with Google, used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention, sent encrypted, and not linked to your identity, because the app has no accounts to link them to. This is the same set declared on the Play listing's Data safety card, and the two are meant to be read together. Google explains its side in how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Consent. In the UK and the EEA, StudyPomo shows Google's own consent form the first time it runs, and you can reopen it later from the app's settings to change your answer or withdraw it. Ponderanda, which is built but not yet released, works the same way.

Your rights

We treat the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 as applying to everything here, whichever one covers you. You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be deleted, and object to personalised advertising.

In practice we hold nothing tied to you, so most requests are really about the advertising data, and there are two faster routes than writing to us. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android under Settings, then Privacy, then Ads. And you can reopen the consent form inside StudyPomo and withdraw consent, which stops personalised ads from that point.

If you would rather ask us, write to hello@emberfig.com and we will answer within one month, which is the limit both GDPRs set. If we cannot do what you ask, we will say why rather than go quiet.

Children

Our apps are not directed at children. StudyPomo is rated PEGI 3 and Everyone because it contains nothing unsuitable, which is not the same as being built for children, and it is listed under Productivity rather than anywhere in Family. There are no accounts, no messaging, no user profiles and nothing you write that leaves your device, so there is no route by which a child could hand us personal information. If you believe a child has provided data through anything of ours, write to us and we will look into it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be written up in a rebuild note, since telling you about them is the same job as telling you what changed in an app.
